July 4th 2009! Mark you calendars for the second annual Journey of Faith Conference in Toronto, Canada! Last year we missed it because we had an AlMaghirb Institute seminar in DC that same weekend but I ordered the entire conference on DVD. But this year in sha Allah we’ll get to see it live, can’t wait to hear all the awesome lectures and speakers! If you live anywhere close to Toronto, I’d say this conference is definitely worth the drive!

Please note this post is not intended for hatred of Shias but just rather to inform and educate the Muslims about their beliefs and how they differ from Sunni Muslims.
A friend sent me a very interesting and comprehensive website that deals with the deviant beliefs of the Shia. SubhanAllah when I browsed the site I was amazed at the large amount of information that is on there concerning the Shia, what they believe and also what the Sunni perspective is regarding them.
So I decided to blog about it because I know that MOST Sunni Muslims and probably many Shias don’t even know what the beliefs of Shias are. And if we were to learn about what they truly believe, subhanAllah its a lot of very disturbing information that really just makes one upset and shocked! So if you don’t know what they believe and want to learn to educate yourself please check out this website and also some of the videos I’ve posted below. The videos give a short glimpse into what the Shias believe, but the website is much more detailed.

There are countless websites online about Islam, with a lot of information. But you have to ask yourself since there are sooooo many sites: How do I know which site is accurate? Which site is correct? Which site is deviant? There has to be some way to sift through all the sites out there, or at least the more popular sites to differentiate which are safe to learn from and which are deviant.
Alhumdulillah, Dr Bilal Philips has developed a Islamic Website Ranking system on his site that judges websites based on specific criteria. Alhumdulillah it a very useful resource if you are having trouble figuring this out.
