Heres an interesting piece I wrote on the AlMaghrib World blog:
Here in Qabeelat Nurayn we are in the middle of taking AlMaghrib’s The Shepherd’s Path class. So far the class is amazing, the room is overflowing with 300+ students all attentively listening and learning from Shaykh AbdulBary Yahya about the Prophet’s (sal Allahu alayhi wasallam) Seerah.
Throughout the class, Shaykh AbdulBary usually mentions some stories and ma sha Allah they really help in keeping the class fun. One of the stories he mentioned really gave me chills and also reminded me of an incident that happened in a local masjid in Laurel, Maryland.
Shaykh AbdulBary’s story: A while back when Shaykh AbdulBary went for Hajj, he was stoning the jamarat and someone threw a larger stone and it hit him in the head which caused him to fall down and he started bleeding from his head. A man saw this and he helped him out of the crowd and then left. But while this man was helping him out of the crowd he actually stole all the money from his zipper beltpack and ran away.
When Shaykh AbdulBary realized this he was so worried now, he started thinking to himself that was all my money and everything is gone and how can I go home now!? So he just sat there with his hands stretched forward making dua to Allah (swt) to help him out and get back home. Then randomly some guy walked by and put some money in the Shaykh’s hands and walked away. When Shaykh AbdulBary looked in his hands he found there to be four times more money than was stolen from him!!! SubhanAllah I was so amazed when I heard this story, but the question is who was that man? My guess: an angel, wAllahu Alam
So when I heard this story it reminded me of another story that happened locally. This was actually related to me by my uncle and he also wrote about it in the local Muslim newspaper, The Muslim Link.
The story goes:
This happened around 3 years ago, in 2006. It was during winter time and there was a snow storm in the area. The incident took place at the Islamic Community Center of Laurel in Maryland. It had snowed about 12-18 inches that day. Even though it snowed so much that day, Dr. Islam Kamal who regularly attends salah still came in for Fajr.
When he arrived at the masjid he noticed that there were no other cars there and no one else was there. He parked his car and opened the masjid with his key. He went inside to the musallah and called the Fajr adhan and then prayed the sunnah prayer. Afterwards he turned around and he saw that there were three young men who were also praying their sunnah prayer. All three of these men looked very similar in features, they had beards, were wearing off-white thobes with turbans and their faces were shinging. Dr Kamal didn’t recognize these people and he was a regular attendee of the masjid.
Dr. Kamal then suggested to delay Fajr from 6:10 AM to 6:15 AM to give a few minutes for the Imam and other people to arrive. The three men did not reply. Five minutes passed by and not a single person showed up, seeing this Dr. Kamal decided to get up and start the salah. One of the three men recited the iqamah in an extremely beautiful voice. Dr Kamal thought to himself if this person had arrived earlier he should have called the adhan. Upon completion of Fajr salah, while Dr. Kamal was making dhikr the three men got up and left the masjid.
Shortly thereafter Dr. Kamal also got up, turned off all the lights and left. He locked the door and started towards his car, he then noticed that there were no tire tracks of any other cars in the parking lot and no other foot prints as well (there was 12+ inches of snow). It would have been very easy to notice any tire tracks or footprints.
Thats the end of the story. SubhanAllah another interesting incident that just leaves me in amazement. I’m sure the natural thought that comes to our minds is that these three men were angels. The pious people who sincerely work and strive for Allah (swt)’s Deen, He will defintely bless them in this life and the next.
